Nomad Life Doesn't Mean Trading One Set of Society's Expectations for Another
This week, we're breaking free from nomad myths and stereotypes. Full subscribers get the scoop on zero-income tax countries, why so many Americans feel stuck, and a 20% off summer in Europe deal.
✈️ Welcome to Midlife Nomads, your weekly hit of real talk, smart ideas, and helpful tools for building a location-independent life through remote work, travel, and business.
Summer has finally arrived in Canada and honestly, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be right now. June and July are my favourite months here. The lake is warming up, our backyard is lush in all its scraggly overgrown glory, and our post-work routine has shifted to lazy late afternoons in the sun.
I’m also working through some health stuff, and this is when I want to be close to my support system (and that “free” healthcare we pay all those taxes to access).
That’s the version of nomad life I’m living this season. Because here's the thing: location independence isn’t necessarily about constantly being on the move. It’s about having the freedom to be where it makes the most sense for you at any given point.
It’s funny who’ll try to tell you otherwise, right? “If you’re not living out of a backpack in Bali, are you even a real nomad?” Please. The truth is, the version of success we were sold doesn’t work for most of us. The North American dream is broken. So now, we need to figure out something better; something that works..
Nomad life isn’t about chasing
some curated Instagram fantasy. It’s about having the freedom to go, to stay, to change your mind. It’s about choosing what works for you, and not waiting for permission to start living on your own terms.
You don’t need to sell everything or go full minimalist to experience the benefits of remote work and flexibility. You just need options.
And to have options, you need remote income.
That’s what we’ll be talking more about in the coming weeks—how to create income streams that move with you, and the systems that help you do it without burning out.
