The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a breathtakingly beautiful place of worship. There are no priceless artworks hanging on its walls painted by renaissance masters. Nor will you find any glittering gold and jewel encrusted altars dating back to the middle Ages. Its beauty comes from its striking architecture and use of space and light.
The decorations whilst lavish are visually beautiful and in proportion with the building. Despite the huge number of visitors it receives each day it is first and foremost a place of religious worship and therefore closed at times. I am sure you cannot help but feel the reverence and leave with a sense of awe and wonder like I did.
