Days go by slowly in Luang Prabang, Laos; admiring sunset after sunset over the Mekong River—with the same routinely pace of a monk who knows better than to rush through such a joyous panorama.

The charm of another era is tangible all across the city, from the old French-style buildings to the friendly hands of locals always welcoming you with a glass of rice wine. Food never very far behind.

Usually overlooked by travelers, Laos offers incomparable experiences to those who have the time and patience to go through its jungles. Luang Prabang—the former Royal Capital of the country—taking the crown in terms of all-around beauty.

Sit back, take your shoes off, enjoy. Luang Prabang is that last piece of food that is worth eating in smaller and slower bites.
