Schloss Glucksburg Castle is in northern Germany very close to the border with Denmark on the site of a former monastery and was the home to a number of the Danish kings. After construction was completed in 1587 the surrounding grounds where deliberately flooded creating a lake which almost completely encircles the castle.
It sits like it is floating on the lake and makes a wonderful photogenic subject with its high white washed walls, red roofs, corner circular towers and the reflections in the water. We didn’t go inside though due to the time we had available that day, unfortunately. The admission price was €8 per person and parking €2 for three hours out the front.
