Around The Corner
Drinking a supposedly sealed bottle of water in the backblocks of Vietnam had me as sick as I can remember being; and sitting on a toilet in Dalat with a bowl in my lap, spewing and shitting from the same muscle spasm has to be one of the low points of my life.
I was still a bit shaky a week or so later walking the markets of Saigon. It was almost sunset and I was about to put the camera away when I looked down an alleyway. This kid saw me at the moment I saw him. It probably remains my favourite picture and I look at it whenever I’m feeling sorry for myself cos you just never know what miracles are around the corner…..
